The NHS protocol for a smear is every 3 years if youhave normal smear results or have been released back into the care of your GP following any previous abnormal results.

If you have had a baby you are no longer required to have a smear but must wait for your next smear due date regardless.
This is wrong!!!! 3 years in itself is too long to wait but when you take into account the changes the cervix goes through during pregnancy and labour we need to bring back screening following pregnancy.
Following progression from CIN1 to CIN2 in 6 months then a LLETZ procedure I was given the all clear and put back on the 3yr plan in 2012. I gave birth in 2013 and have been refused a smear by my GP (as I have no symptoms), I had no symptoms previously though. As a result I must go private and pay £195 to have a smear to check that nothing has developed or returned.
