Brigantine Boulevard is both a State and County Road with a speed limit ranging from 35 mph to 45 mph. Even though police will sit at the bottom of the Brigantine Bridge, drivers still drive at an alarming speeds. There have been dangerous accidents along this road over the past five (5) years and they are becoming more frequent where drivers and residents along the Boulevard have been seriously injured. Other barrier islands have state and county roads that are less than 35 mph so let's do the same to ours. Please sign the petition as we'd like to gather enough signatures for our council (and/or us) to take the appropriate measures to approach city and county legislators to slow down the speed and possibly make it safer to non-drivers on the Boulevard as well (i.e. bicyclists, pedestrians, residents along the stretch, etc).
