We are petitioning for the implementation of a slot limit of 13-18 inches on all Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass caught in the Northern Region of Utah. Under this slot limit, all Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass caught within the 13-18 inch range must be released. This regulation would still allow for Bass outside of the slot limit to be harvested, but helps to protect the fisheries by maintaining the best brood stock and keeping them heathy and viable.

The local fisheries in the Northern Region of Utah face unprecedented fishing pressure in addition to the unpredictable water levels, both of which have a significant effect on the quality of our fisheries. While we have no control over the water levels, we can make a difference with regulations to promote better fishing for all. Research has been conducted on the implementation of slot limits and has shown that it is beneficial and has a positive effect on the quality of the fisheries. Please support this petition for all who currently enjoy fishing and all the generations to come.

Protected Slot Limits allow the harvest of abundant small fish as well as some of the larger adults while protecting the more viable reproductive fish in the population.

We are proposing the following protective slot limit

6 fish Limit all bass between 13” and 18” must be released and only 1 over 18” may be kept.
