The trail isnt that wide, it would be very difficult to have riders stay to the left. Also when we are correcting a horse or calming it from a spook etc . it would be impossible . The trail is a single lane wide? left will not work, I believe if a byciclist needs a smooth surface in order to enjoy thier ride? they need to go find pavement , not a reclaimed rail road bed.

Haven't had a chance to ride the rail trail but to hear this even needs a petition is disheartening. Our society needs horses to reemerge as a familial part of the community

I agree that the trail should be for all non motorized users. My driveways end is at the trail so I frequent it regularly.
My attention to the effects of horse riding on the trail was brought up by a fellow biker who was riding by. She mentioned how bumpy and rough the trail was from horses riding. I had never thought nor was bothered by it before. She suggested if horses could walk on one side of the trail leaving another side level and smooth for bikes. I know this is a change but could possibly work to satisfy all users.
Thanks for our trail, all those who tend and care for it, and all those who love and respect it.

I am a taxpayer, horse owner and rider. My tax dollars help maintain thistrail and I have a right to use it respectfully. If the trail is restricted who is paying for the policing and who is going to hand out fines and who will collect? With what funding are they going to use to enforce? Tax dollars? I pay taxes........ this is so ridiculous I cannot believe this is being entertained.

We must remember that horses are the reason that these areas were settled, we mustn't forget the horses and their history!

I drive to Perry Siding, where I have a horse boarded with a friend, just to ride this beautiful trail and I come From Grand Forks. Don't take the trail away from all the horse people that use it!

Iam currently trying to purchase property in the Slocan valley one thing that was very improtant to me was to have a place to ride my horses in that beautiful valley. Horses are harmless and also apiece of nature. What will be next ban the other animals?
