Agree with other comments..Small B&Bs and guests houses get more from word of mouth and referrals than County directed advertising

I have a two-room farm stay, and this assessment will do me no good at all. We are already being taxed 9% for benefits we do not receive. Our own marketing efforts and word of mouth have done more than a tourism board could ever do. Not only do we maximize our capacity now, in our rural area an increase in traffic, etc., would not be appreciated. And our customers contribute to the country-wide tourism by dining out, attending festivals and concerts, wine tasting and shopping. The small inn keeper should definitely be exempt from this useless tax.

This is another ill concieved money grab by SLO County. Advertising is Not the business of SLO County. There already exists marketing organizations such as Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and Convention Bureau, etc. To force a 1% bed tax on top of the existing 9% + bed tax on our guests is unwarrented and unjust. This tax will only benefit the large hotels and chain operations along the coastlines and in the larger cities. It will not benefit the smaller operations such as vacation rentals and B&Bs. At the very least this tax, if passed, should be levied on operations which have a specific number of units, say 12 or more, available for transient rental. Do not pass this not wanted, not need additional tax to be paid by our much tourists.

THis tax does nothing to help my business. It is never used to promote Cambria even though the bulk of this tax comes from Cambria's motels and vacation rentals. WE do not see any of it used to advertise Cambria. It is very unfair to the small business owners and benefits the major hotels in S,L.O.

Small businesses in the tourism industry should not be forced to pay for large corporations and national businesses who want to advertise. Please delete the B&B and vacation rentals from the proposed document.
