I live in the Central Valley and consider the Central Coast my second home, please don't for an additional 1% increase OR consider giving Californians a discount for patronizing hotels in our state like Hawaii does.

I am OPPOSED to the new 1% assessment to for a countywide TMD - our county is a widely known tourist destination area, advertised in Sunset Magazine and other venues and does not need further marketing.

There are too many questions and NO ANSWERS about this "assessment." It has never been publicized and the residents of SLO Co. have not had a chance to even consider it. Why is it being rushed through?

The central coast does not need additional marketing. It is already a grand vacation location, as witnessed by the fact there are at least 4 vacation rental firms operating in Caucus. And I suspect some of the real estate firms also act in that capacity. The 11% tax already in place is currently a disincentive to rent in the area - quite a shock with you see how much it adds to the already high rental rates. To continue to add to that total would have a negative marketing effect, in my opinion.
