Agree! Especially canicross should be looked at more closely. Why do they always start in the afternoon when it is most hot? While the dogs have to provide a lot of power and are longer on the trail. With bike and scooter dogs go faster but also have less resistance.

I think every musher came already to the conclusion when it's hot they do shorter training, and when you can cool down dogs they run better and look better. Also after race when they are cooled down with cold water the recovery is faster. Then why deny it on competition? Most mushers will know what is best for their dogs and what works for them. If common sense is used, these rules will change for the better of the dogs and the future of the sport with these animals.

Also notice that canicross runner is on the trail the longest and dogs work same hard so sometimes it would be good not to have it last at the hottest

Heat restrictions have been a concern with CAHDS/ MAHDS and previous concerns have been voiced but not received. Hopefully this petition gets the attention of IFSS to change these rules for the better!
With the rapid growth of the sport, and our planet getting warmer, modelling and promoting proper stewardship for our dogs is more important than ever.

I support this 100%! Animal welfare comes first and one overheated dog is one too many. With rising temperatures on this planet this will be even more important the upcoming years!

The sleddogs of Europe have got enough! It's time to do what the real vets are doing in the picture in European Championships: put water on the dogs and shorten the tracks when temperature rises high!
