I hate those animals, wish the city would allow the hunting of them.

We live in New Brighton and they are starting to become a problem, didn't know this was a CITY wide problem. Maybe the CITY should help us out with this.

My dogs were sprayed by a skunk in our backyard. Taradale is getting bad for skunks. They've been around for years, but lately it's been much worse. We think that we may have a skunk living under our shed.

Also a big issue in Erinwoods! The city should have a strategy other than saying its residents problem.

Skunks are extremely beneficial. They eat mice that can carry hanta virus. Wasps and hornets that a lot of people are allergic to. They will only spray as a last resort when they feel threatened. They have poor eyesight. Stand still or move away slowly and no one gets sprayed. It is very taxing and stressful to develop the spray. They are very confident, not aggressive. The black and white is an easily recognizable warning to stay away. Rabies is virtually non-existant in skunks in Alberta. As you said it is transmitted by being bitten. The only way that will happen is to try to pick one up... A skunk during daylight is no alarm. Likely a very hungry mom from feeding her babies. Babies , once mobile, at 4-6 weeks will come out exploring while Mom sleeps in the den

So I take it you have no kids or pets and glad to see there are heartless people in this world or maybe you haven't lost some thing due to this problem or you a city offical who got a raise. But here how it goes its a epidemic if you can't see that open the other eye and don't waste the time to write cause your words are not worth the electricity you waste to open your mouth
