Working conditions in the garment industry were way beyond terrible let me tell you. First, you need to know that children probably made the clothes that you are wearing right now. For example, "Jeanne Zhuo's family immigrated to New York City from China... at age 13 she began to work at the same garment sweatshop as her mom, aunt, and other relatives."("Teens In Sweatshop"). This quote shows how at a very young age of 13, Jeanne Zhuo's had to work in the garment industry with her mom and aunt which were probably 20 maybe 30 years older than her. Another example of horrific working conditions in the garment industry is, "According to the department about 50 percent of the city's 4,000 garment factories violate the minimum wage laws."("Teens In Sweatshop"). This quote shows how not only are people working at a super young age like Jeanne they also are getting less then minimum wage which is ILLEGAL! We should really improve working conditions in the garment industry.
