The city council officially approved the construction of the skatepark at the East Bay site this morning. We are moving into the site assessment phase now and I will post updates as the blueprints are finalized.

Final supporters
Our mission is to give our town an outlet. For far to long our town has seen establishments come and go. Stories of movie theatres, bowling allies, even arcades and skating rinks! But today our town sits with not much for our teen youth to involve themselves in. Unfortunately, this saddened state of affairs often leave teens to depend on “alternate sources” for recreation activities that can often have toxic or even deadly outcomes. Today we want to petition the city of Georgetown to build a skatepark in our east bay park area. There are plenty of lots to do so. it would give encouragement to a generation of kids ages 3-17 to put the phones down and go grind a pipe instead of smoking one. If everyone who signs gets at least one other person to sign we could knock this out together in no time

We are approaching one hundred signatures which is the threshold required to trigger a formal review by the parks department. I am drafting a proposal for the upcoming city council hearing to ensure this project remains on their agenda. Please secure additional signatures before the end of the week so we present a unified mandate to the officials.

A skatepark in Georgetown sounds like a great idea. Skateboarding is really popular right now. It’s more than a “Sport”. It’s a lifestyle. It brings all cultures together and it has actually saved kids lives by keeping them “off the streets”. Please make this happen!
I've been skateboarding since the early 2000's and have always struggled to find a good spot to skate in town. The idea of building a skatepark has been discussed multiple times but never came to fruition. It would mean a lot to me and many people around Georgetown if this was built.
That would be awesome for the youth! It would be safer than them skating on sidewalks and road ways. It would give kids something to do ! Georgetown has nothing for kids parents has to drive to beach just kids to have fun!!
It would be amazing for my son to be able to go to a skate park instead of have to ride in the road. I believe more kids would be interested in it if they have somewhere to go. CCU’s campus is full of students riding.
I wish this was around when I was in high school. All I had to do was party which led me to getting strung out. Lost many friends and isolated myself from many good friends do to my addiction. Anything I can do to help. Let me know Much love

Action Sports parks give options to kids to build a community, learn resliency, develop friendships, confidence, and self-assurance. Action spots are a mainstream sport, and will only continue to grow. Giving our kids this creative and physical outlet, if done right, could be a huge draw for the community and the county.

Concrete please for Georgetown. I'm s Georgetown native and skater. We've tried since early 80s to build a concrete park and now hopefully it will happen. Any advice I know plenty of professional skatepark builders. Contact me at my email for design ideas. Please
