Skateboarders have been stereotyped as "punk" kids whom often destroy city parks and land. This happens because there is nowhere for them to go. Our skate-park is a vert style park and the growing trend in skating is street style. Skateboarding is an ever popular sport which requires skill, balance, determination and hard work. Our skateboarders have to jump fences and dodge police to access places to do their tricks. Football players have stadiums, basketball players have courts but skateboarders are given no choice but to break the law to participate in their sport. Its time that we support these athletes and build them a street style skate park where they can get their footage and work on their sport. Skateboarding has been around for over 9 decades and the sport continues to evolve. The skate scene in our town is incredible and these kids are truly talented athletes who dedicate their lives to their sport. It is time that we work together with our youth and stop working against them! Working with the community of Temecula to design and build a street style skate-park would strengthen the bond with our youth!
