We the citizen of Singapore would like to hear the stand of PM Lee Hsien Loong and his Government on the comment made by MM Lee Kuan Yew. Quote “I think we were progressing very nicely until the surge of Islam came, and if you asked me for my observations, the other communities have easier integration — friends, intermarriages and so on, Indians with Chinese, Chinese with Indians — than Muslims. That’s the result of the surge from the Arab states,” “I would say today, we can integrate all religions and races except Islam. I think the Muslims socially do not cause any trouble, but they are distinct and separate,” “But now, you go to schools with Malay and Chinese, there’s a halal and non-halal segment and so, too, the universities. And they tend to sit separately so as not to be contaminated. All that becomes a social divide.” “Be less strict on Islamic observances and say ‘Okay, I’ll eat with you.’” Unqutoe Does this thinking stated by MM Lee Kuan Yew reflect the sentiments of PM Lee and his Government as a whole? Otherwise, the perception will be that the comments expressed by MM Lee, as a core member of the Cabinet, reflects the official position of the Singapore Government. We would also like MM Lee Kuan Yew to explain and apologise on his statement for Muslim Singaporean to be less strict on their Islamic observances. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Please sign this petitions and we will email this petitions to the Prime Minister Office.
