I was a dancer at Sin City very briefly in April and May of this year. I'm not going to put my real name on here, but at the club, I was known as "Kira." I stopped coming after the liquor license suspension because I wasn't sure what was going on, and being as new as I was, I wasn't really sure who to ask. Now that I've heard the full story, I have to say I'm incredibly disappointed and sad for my colleagues. The liquor license revocation seemed to me to have been doled out on a rather petty technicality, and while I was aware of the 2016 drug bust, I also had the common sense to understand that any business that employs independent contractors with minimal supervision is at risk for such activity flying under the radar. I am a veteran of several large corporations, and the Sin City I knew was as safe and secure a work environment as I have ever experienced. The rules and protocols were very straightforward, and I knew that if I ever felt uncomfortable or suspicious of illicit activity, I had a safe way of reporting and dealing with it. I am 100% convinced that the nuisance abatement order against Sin City, and the media maelstrom that followed, were nothing more than an act of sex negativity and internalized racism. I was one of only a handful of white girls on a predominantly Black and Hispanic/Latinx staff. From anecdotal evidence alone (and prior work experience), I can absolutely attest that there is a huge difference in the way the clientele treated us dancers and workers based on the color of our skin. I fielded many comments from patrons like, "oh you're too *nice* to be in a place with *those* girls," or asking me if I felt "uncomfortable" being surrounded by "those types" of people. It was infuriating, and the kind of thing I never heard from patrons of any of the other places I'd worked where I was surrounded mostly by people who looked like me--even though I made much less money at those jobs. I also knew from experience that the NYPD has an unfort

I love sin city! Most other nightlife venues don't even compare a fraction to the safety I felt working at Sin city. It has so many security that have directly helped me out time and time again, and I could work there knowing that I would be safe and sound. They have amazing food and really care about customer service. I made wonderful friendships with other workers there who all, including me, would be so happy to work. It gave me a great platform and opportunity to make a income I could live off of and helped me be able to afford to live in this city. This is an amazing establishment that cares about its workers and a company who goes above and beyond to maintain a good reputation of being the best, as well as helping the community and providing entertainment for THOUSANDS of people!
