Simi Valley Unified School District is currently discussing changing the start of the school year to the beginning of August.

What this means:

School will begin at the beginning of the hottest month of the year

SVUSD will have an increased electric bill due to cooling the 28 schools within the district

Many students will be required to stay indoors during recess/lunch because of the extreme temperatures.

Questions that need to be answered:

Where will SVUSD get the money to pay the increased electric bill?

How does starting school during the hottest month fit into SVU Energy Management Program?
