To: Mayor Shirley Franklin We, the signers of this petition, do hereby state our opposition to Resolution 06R1053(7): \"A Resolution by Councilmember Ivory L. Young, Jr. of the City Council of City of Atlanta, Georgia, requesting that the Mayor consider foregoing the installation of a sidewalk in front of the Sig Samuels Laundry and Dry Cleaning Business located at 906 Monroe Drive and to allow the current front-side parking arrangement to remain intact.\" Our opposition is based upon our view that the parking in front of the building is a safety hazard to vehicular traffic on Monroe Drive and to the students of Grady High School and sports stadium (located directly across the street), its visitors, Midtown residents and visitors, and visitors to festivals at Piedmont Park (located two blocks away). We fully and completely support the professional opinions and plans of the Office of Traffic and Transportation staff and the efforts of our representative Councilwoman Anne Fauver to provide an alternative parking plan for Sig Samuels Laundry and Dry Cleaning. This plan will not only improve vehicular and pedestrian safely but will also mitigate the loss of their convenience parking in the front of the building by supplementing their designated parking in the rear parking lot. We strongly urge the Mayor to reject the Atlanta City Council\'s vote for this resolution, and support pedestrian and driver safety for the citizens of Atlanta.
