The current plan (option A) will cause more traffic problems than now. PLEASE put a traffic light at Colonial Drive. Having one lane over the bridge will cause backups going back towards the center of Shrewsbury as traffic traveling north on 140 will have to stop before they can merge into the new right hand lane. Does the town realize that as our property values decrease (as they are doing even now), the town will also lose tax income due to the horrible situation of exiting the neighborhood

There is already a back-up to Colonial Drive during rush hour on Rte. 140 since the traffic light was installed at the Fedex facility on Rte. 140 in Boylston. When cars are forced to turn right in and out of Colonial Drive, that back-up will just get worse, not better. A traffic light seems to be a better solution to the existing traffic problems at Colonial Dr./Rte. 140, with an added bonus of finally reducing cars that speed while exiting Rte. 290 making it almost impossible to take a right hand turn now onto Colonial Drive without getting into an accident.

The people directly affected by the traffic situation around Colonial Drive need to be part of the solution. Not being informed during the process until the decisions have been made is a great disservice to us.

When we moved into this neighborhood it was sold as easy access to the major highways. Every year the easy access got worse and more dangerous. I had been hit at the intersection of 140 and Colonial by a car coming off the the 290 ramp because no one reads or understands the meaning of a Yield Sign. Not a pleasant experience. It is time our town officials address this very serious issue.

It appears the Town and MassDOT selected the least costly and quickest design solution discounting our overall safety concerns and the convenience of easy access in and out of Colonial Dr. Time has come to take action and install the long overdue traffic light at this intersection.
