We, the undersigned, concerned homeowners and residents of Manasquan, love the newMain Street Beach Building! It is tasteful, and in keeping with the charm and history of the town.

We oppose the signage that has been installed on the building, specifically the electronic sign board and the large, block letters applied tothe building.

The undersigned feel that the signage and lettering detract from the rich appearance of the building and that there are signage options that better compliment the dignified style of the building.

We request that the Mayor and Council take action to seek advice of a designer/architect to replace the electronic sign and lettering with appropriately designed signage that better complements the building.

We appreciate the great work our Mayor and Council do, know that they love Manasquan as much as we do, and we appreciate their consideration of the wishes of the undersigned.

Updates

May 16, 2014

I have sent a formal request for a meeting with the Borough Council to discuss the current signage installation. My focus is now on compiling a list of alternative design professionals who can propose a more appropriate aesthetic for the building facade.

The growth of this petition signifies a clear consensus regarding the signage on the Main Street Beach Building. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the Mayor and Council to request a scheduled meeting to review architectural alternatives.

Keep it classy manasquan. The block letters are just ugly. Let's find something more professional.

That sign is a total eyesore. It looks like something you would see at a strip mall instead of our beautiful beach front.

So glad someone said this. It's a gorgeous building and that sign is ruining the whole aesthetic. Fingers crossed they listen to us.

WHY do we need a digital sign in a historic area?? It’s tacky and honestly just offensive to the character of the building.

The electronic board is way too bright at night. Really takes away from the charm of Manasquan. Get rid of it.
