This petition is going to work on creating awareness for depression amongst the teenage population by advocating for Bill S01006 which - “Requires annual screenings for depression of students in grades seven through twelve and requires the department of education and the department of health to review data pertaining to the results of such screenings for local and statewide trends concerning teenage depression” (New York State, n.d.).

With the advocation for this bill to get passed, it can help schools to implement different depression screenings. This is going to help decrease suicide rates, increase awareness for mental health, and help create early screenings for services within the school. Please help to get this bill passed by signing this petition, it will help create a stronger environment in the school setting for children.
