The UNC Board of Governors has officially rejected the proposed tuition hike. We will now monitor the budget filings to ensure these specific increases are not reinserted into future financial cycles.

The ECU Board of Trustees wants to raise undergraduate tuition by 9.5% and graduate tuition by 9.9%. We, the students, cannot afford more tuition increases. We cannot afford more student loan debt. The ECU Board of Trustees have already approved the tuition hikes. How...ever, they must be approved by the UNC Board of Governors in February to be implemented. Our plan is to send our signed petition to the ECU Board of Trustees and to the UNC Board of Governors before the increases are implemented. Please come to the Cupula, Friday at Noon, and let your voice be heard. We will be collecting signatures from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Thank you, Pirate Nation!

I have drafted formal letters to the members of the UNC Board of Governors outlining the financial impact of these proposed hikes. We are now finalizing a meeting request with the student liaisons to ensure these concerns reach the decision makers directly.
