The right to due process and appeal are not only constitutional mandates, they are also moral and ethical measures. The children of Guilford County, especially those disproportionately impacted by disciplinary actions should absolutely have this right.

Everything can be appealed so why should parents/students not be allowed to appeal short term suspensions? This is a legal entitlement under the law.

I support a policy change that offers a chance to review and appeal disciplinary decisions that can seriously impact our children’s futures, and which are historically and consistently used to discipline/punish black students at extremely disproportionate rates.

Students and parents should have the right to appeal their suspensions. At times, administrative figures are unfair and students should be able to fight for their rights.
