I would love to have a gym in minto with working full time and being a very person minto it's hard to get to town or to the outskirts of town to go to the gym!

Seen this and just wanted to add my thoughts. I agree Minto does need a fitness centre. However, I tried to keep one going for ten years, and I invested a lot of money into having commercial equipment, but there just wasn't enough people to keep it going. It was busy for the few first months of the year and had a small number of women who used the gym faithfully. In a last attempt I opened it up for men as well. I purchased more weights and equipment to accommodate them. This was a failure as well, only a few came and only for a short while. I realize it is hard for people to commit but on the other side if a gym owner cannot have commitment they fail. I believe the only answer is to get government involved ( which I tried and failed) and maybe if enough people get involved they might get involved. It was always something I wanted to do and I tried, I don't know what I could have done different to make a go of it. The cost to purchase and maintain everything is overwhelming and you need lots of support. I will never get back what I put into it, other than all the successes and help I tried to give each and every member. Also people would join gyms in Fredericton even when one was available in their own community, maybe not as fancy or as much equipment but it was enough, and a much lower cost.

We must make it co-ed and a real gym. Being the former operator of the previous gym in Minto I seen where two different gyms, (one male, the other female), was a constant battle where neither side wins. That said the aforementioned gym must be equipped with professional equipment capable of withstanding large amounts of weight and abuse or it will not last.
