After the director of the home slept with one of the girls in the home who was only 12 when she came they decided to shut this place down, this isn’t the first time this happened either the director before also cheated on his wife and slept w another girl in the home and they are still together many years later this place is like a cult especially considering their cruel punishment and having to walk on egg shells everyday I am glad they are finally completely shut down and will never re open again, when I was there I tied breaking all of the girls out in the middle of the night bc we were all so tired of the abuse and constantly being controlled physically emotionally and mentally

i have thought about this comment for months and even years, and it still keeps me up at night. I am finally gonna respond to it. you worked there, good for you. but you didn't see what we saw. you didn't expierience what we expierenced. and who are to judge how we were treated. as help you didnt have the same expierence as us. you probly didnt even live in the dorms with us. as girls we had alot of rules, i dont know about the boys home but in the girls home god forbid you leave a hair on the floor in the bathroom or shower. much less a curly as we called it. if you didnt see as they saw you were a sinner, no acceptance if you saw differently then them, it even put a major rift between me and my parents a rift that they were quote trying to fix. my mother still apologizes to this day for putting me there. there were times i was sick and SHOULD HAVE seen a doctor, i mean, alot of us had mental illnesses and we should have been in therapy. instead we were told that it was either in our heads or a demon and that we should pray and it would magically go away. but what do you expect from a group that locked a girl in the closet because she was acting out so bad that we said she was possessed. whats your reasoning there? i tell you if my son had been there they wouldnt know how to deal with his fits and outbursts and label him a bad kid and possessed. when in reality he has SPD and autism. yes i get the whole God will heal, but God also tells us to get help for our stuff to. he tells us to be smart. im in therapy for stuff that happened there YEARS ago. yes i said YEARS. its not me being bitter, or saying that i feel bad for myself and look for someone to blame i take responsobility. was i a bad kid? maybe. shouuld i have gotten spanked, yeah sure. but what i went through was no excuse for to punish me like i was punished. God forgive me for suggesting my cousin even be sent there. and how would you know what God would do? much less what we went through.my parents sent m

ashamed of themselves? how? you werent there, you dont know what we went through. Speaking as someone who watched a girl get locked in a closet for her mental health problems because we thought she was "possessed" i really dont think you should be airing your opinion

Trying to adapt make friends was one thing, then when you knew you were being good and followed all the rules. People could make up lies about you and you would be punished for something that you did not even do. For months! Given punishments that you did not even deserve and you were not able to speak for three or four months at a time and not only that but you had to look down at your feet and speak to no one for months that can cause some serious mental problems later on in life I promise I am a witness of really bad anxiety towards social gatherings and have horrible panic attacks around large numbers of people it not only mentally changed me but physically makes me ill where I will pass out.

Just so you know, it is shut down and no longer operating. Another home was supposed to relocate there but it fell through. The property is now listed for sale and registered on the mls.

There's so much I've wanted to say for years. So many girls and boys like myself went there and it's disgusting to think about all this time later. Forcing guilt and fear in the name of religion. Exploiting girls into sharing hard problems in front of complete strangers, so in return they could get a sum of money from patrons. Brainwashing to think their families are all damned and going to hell. the constant questioning of myself and fearful of Gods wrath

Yeah, screw this place and their chicken noodle soup with 4 noodles in it and their 5 cracker allowance.

They did shut the girls home down as of last month I believe. They announced after 25 years they shut their doors.

I used to be at victorious valley before I was adopted. They abuse kids and they spank them. That is real because I remember so clear in my head what happened. I’m still traumatized from all that and have never told anyone the whole story of what I remember. It hurts too much.

I was there when they first began in the 90s.. There were 12 girls or so.. This was before it was called victorious valley.. It was mcgills girls home.. All the statements u have read are true and some memories I have are worse..

I will never be the same Victorious Valley left me far left off mentally after two years there than I ever was before I went. I spent 2002-2004 in that cruel and unusual hell hole, the mental and physical abuse they inflict to break children for not being perfect robots is a crime. The former director who inflicted and enforced these punishments to “get us right with God” left his entire family to run away with one of the girls in the home. What does that tell you. A bunch of psychiotic hypocrites. Making a profit off the suffering of others.

Once I forgot to wipe down a sink after washing my hands. Got a demerit, couldn't finish it, so it doubled. Then that doubled. After 2 weeks i had thousands. This place made me choose between literally hundreds of beatings from a wood paddle, or "look down separation". A punishment that required me to always look at the ground, never speak, never make a sound, never look at anyone in the eye, never look to see the horizon, never look at the leaves in trees, or the stars in the night sky, never speak or look at my brother or sister. I had to do that for 9 months straight. I was 9 years old.

Don't use religion to physically or emotionally abuse children.

This place was horrible. I was beaten so much and so bad I had blood clots n my butt the size and shape of the wooden paddle. I now have anxiety and panic attacks. These people are horrible

Working diligently on my own end to have this place held accountable. Good luck with your endeavors, here. Don't lose hope.
