Congressman Shuler has finally confirmed a public town hall meeting to address the concerns raised in this petition. This successful outcome demonstrates the impact of organized civic engagement. Please remain vigilant as we prepare to hold him accountable to the commitments made during this process.
Congressman Shuler:
We need to talk.
Many of us have made repeated attempts to secure appointments with you during the August Recess. Without exception, our efforts have been frustrated by your staff's interminable claims of "working on your schedule." Whether the request is for a one-on-one meeting, a "townhall" style assembly, or a convocation with a small group of constituents, the answer is always the same. Apparently, it is not possible to make an appointment with you.
Since it seems you have a completely indeterminate schedule, perhaps we can solve this problem by taking a new approach.
On Saturday, August 22nd at noon, we will be at your Asheville office to express our opposition to socialized healthcare.
We will arrange our schedules to accommodate this very important meeting.
Will you
Sincerely,
The persistent lack of availability from the Congressman remains a point of frustration for many residents. I am currently coordinating with local organizers to ensure our presence at the Asheville office is orderly and effective. Please prepare to join us as we seek the accountability that has been absent thus far.

Cant even get a call back from his office. So tired of being ignored by someone we pay to represent us.

We paid for his office so maybe he should start using it to talk to the people who voted him in.
