We are asking the Sandwich School Committee to consider a revision to the anticipated Late Start days for the 2011-2012 High School calendar year from Wednesdays to Mondays. We understand that the successful professional development of our educators is taking place on the late start mornings, how-ever we feel our School Committee and Administrators  must also address the students productivity in accordance with the well known facts of sleep deprevation patterns in teenagers. We have the opportunity to "sleep in" on the weekend, why would you not continue that pattern for Monday morning as well? Students are now made to adjust to disruptive sleep patterns in the middle of the week. This only adds to our reckless sleep pattern and would seemingly provide a loss of productivity for the average High School student.
