Shrek the Musical has been running in London since May 2011. There was a cast recording released for the Broadway production but several things have been changed to the music for the West End version. The song 'Donkey Pot Pie' was replaced with a new song 'Forever', significant changes in lyrics and in music were made to the opening song 'Big Bright Beautiful World', and a couple of songs were cut. Most shows that are on Broadway and in the West End have cast recording for both productions, however Shrek doesn't. A lot of people like to here a cast recording before they see the show and the Broadway cast is completely different to the West End cast. Also, a cast recording can help people relive their experience of the show again and again. Furthermore, some people can't afford theatre tickets so a cast recording is a nice way of hearing the show without actually seeing it. Finally, a lot of people agree that although the Broadway cast were good, the West End cast are outstanding and have something very special. We need a West End cast recording of Shrek the Musical!
