Shorter school days
7-8 hours of schooling for five days in a row is too demanding. Students are expected to wake up early in the morning, sit in a desk all day, and then take part in after school activities, sporting events, tutoring, etc. This leaves no time for things like homework or studying or just simply relaxing. Some schools do not get out until after 4:00 pm. By the time students get home the sun has already set. Students are being forced to stay up until the early hours of the morning just to finish homework and prepare for the next day. Because of this, they go to school tired and not prepared to learn. Several studies have shown a strong correlation between the amount of sleep a student gets and their GPA. Reducing school hours will provide students with more time to do homework, study, and sleep, which will in turn help students improve their grades.
