Thanks Jeroen! I am very grateful to you taking this action. We have struggled for years with this very issue. We've contacted Shopify numerous times about this very issue but so far no luck in getting any action or even an idea of when they will address this. It has caused us all sorts of problems as Shopify does not enable customers to enter their VAT number to zero the VAT. Let's hope they sit up and listen soon!

My company has been banging this drum since we set up on Shopify in 2010 - they need to make progress on this, it's not that complicated to fix!

I hope this can be solved in an elegant way. Also we need the VAT number for national market for invoice purposes and to deal with local particularities as the equivalence surcharge in Spain.

I agree - the VAT for shipping outside the member state needs to be addressed

Hi - I sell accessories and shows worldwide. Currently there is no easy solution for the VAT issue. I need to show all prices inclusive of VAT but be able to have this automatically removed for non EU buyers. Currently there is clumsy workaround (x all prices by 1.2 in the coding). Its really not good and continues to cause me issues.

I am a web developer and had used Shopify for a few sites until I came across this issue - I simply cannot use Shopify when any business need to trade outside the county.
Looking forward to see this ASAP!
