This feels a bit like buying a car with only 3 wheels. The 4th wheel should be bought elsewhere. "We refuse to make cars with 4 wheels because in our country we only need 3."

It's not just for B2B sales - I have customers who are disabled and have a right to claim vat free priced products and I do not have the ability to apply this to Shopify.

Please implement this .. it really has been years in they making. We either have to accept a 20% hit on an order or charge everyone VAT. It simply is not good enough.

Please introduce a European VAT ID capture field in Shopify. It is essential for doing b2b business in Europe, and would make your platform perfect.

Same problem for our wine webshop in Belgium. We are close to the Dutch border and maintain a growing business with B2B customers from the Netherlands. This results in a lot of extra manual interventions to refund the VAT amounts by credit notes. When could this be solved please?

I was so anxious to start using shopify in my business, but...well, I am glad I came across this problem. Shopify may be very good, but this is the ONE THING that will keep away. I am almost ready to start, but I will chose another option to shopify if this doesn't change soon.

We are Shopify users but very frustrated by VAT exemption (mainly for customers ordering outside of EU). Also, it would be awesome if we could pay the Shopify fees in GBP to avoid all the credit card charges. Or, at least by bank transfer to save some ££'s. I agree with the previous commenters - the platform is not European friendly but is an excellent easy commerce site. Addressing VAT and other issues would keep us as future customers but as it stands we do search around!

Got a generic non-specific reply from shopify about US taxes when enquired about this - there are too many out of date threads floating around the internet on this topic for anyone to not become COMPLETELY confused - please do something shopify or I will reconsider using it! thank you
