The insurer finally backed down and agreed to cover the full costs. We held them accountable. I am beyond grateful for the support.

Car Insurance - It's a legal requirement to drive, but the highly paid companies which provide us with it, are making millions of pounds from our misfortunes. I'm sure plenty of people have been in the exact same boat as me, I had a car crash in February 2012, 4 months later my car is still sat on my drive smashed to pieces, my insurance will not recover, repair or issue me with a courtesy car, unless I pay all my excess in full, (£800) which they will not claim back for me. It is 100% the 3rd party's fault, I was driving under the speed limit on a single carriageway, they undertook me and practically drove on the path as I was more or less stationary whilst turning left onto my drive. The police would not attend, even though I requested them as several Asian men were climbing through my car within seconds of the impact. The other party smashed into the passenger side of my car, My friend was in the passenger side, if I was at a 90 degree angle rather than 45 degree's, I dare say my friend would not have survived the crash. In January I paid my insurance in full for the whole year which was £600, I haven't used my car for even a month of that and now they keep badgering me to pay the excess which is £800 to have my vehicle recovered and repaired. Because there was no independent witnesses it seems that I am 50% responsible for a completely blameless accident on my part. For the 4 months I have been waiting for my insurance company to do something to help me, they have passed me round from department to department, told me different amounts of information, only to be now told that none of that was true. I feel it only takes one person to speak up about all these robbing insurance companies, to encourage others to speak out too. I feel its right and proper for people to have to have insurance, however insurance companies have got a responsibility towards the customers to provide a fair and uncomplicated system, rather than robbing us blind. I have contacted BBC news, Breakfast, the daily mail and various other media companies to try to shine the light on these scamming companies, this petition will help to show that I am not the only person with these views..

Thank you in advance for signing and helping to shine the light!!

Exactly the same thing happened to me last year. They just want the premiums and leave you high and dry when there is an actual accident. Its criminal.

This needs to change so badly. Being a victim of a crash is stressful enough without the insurance company making your life a misery.

This is why nobody trusts them. They know people have no choice but to pay for cover so they just do what they want. Disgraceful.

Ridiculous. They take your money no problem but when you need to claim they act like you owe them your life. Total scam.

800 quid excess is a joke especially when it wasnt your fault. Insurance companies are absolute leeches.

Same here. Took me 18 months to get my money back from a non fault accident. They just hold it to make interest.
