An application (LRB-387) has been received by the City of Atlanta for the redevelopment of the former Shell Station located at 1521 Peachtree Street. The intended use is for a convenience store that will sell a limited selection of beer and wine with hours of operation set as 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Both the Ansley Park Zoning Committee and the Sherwood Forest Zoning Committee have expressed concerns over the proposed hours of operation as well as issues pertaining to security, access, drainage and the future development of this site if this lease expires, changes ownership or the proposed tenant's lease terminates. The owner of this site is John Dewberry/Dewberry Properties.
It is important that we show our concern for this project and the adverse impact it will have in our neighborhood.
As a neighborhood, we do not object to store operations between 5am and 11pm including alcohol sales but oppose 24 hour operations and late hour (after 11pm) operations.

I was just looking at the map again and honestly the idea of 24 hour traffic right there is just exhausting to imagine. Been spending all morning digging through city codes because the drainage issues are much more complicated than I initially realized. It is wild how much time this takes but seeing people from the next street over chiming in helps keep the momentum moving forward.

Seeing this much momentum behind the zoning concerns feels honestly surreal because I remember when this was just a weird idea I had while sitting in traffic. People are really worried about the midnight activity and the drainage issues and it is wild to see that shared anxiety turning into actual action.

No to the 24 hour operation. It is unsafe and bad for property values. Enough is enough.
24 hours is completely unnecessary for that location. Keep it closed late and we wont have any problems.
NOT in our neighborhood. Who wants people loitering at a gas station at 3am right next to our homes?? Stop this now.
Please respect the 11pm cutoff. We need our sleep and we dont need the extra foot traffic that late at night.
This is ridiculous. The city needs to listen to the people actually living here instead of just letting developers do whatever they want.
