Sustainable Housing And Retail Expansion (SHARE) for SPURA

The Seward Park Urban Renewal Area (SPURA) consists of several empty/underutilized lots between Essex & Clinton Street and Rivington & Grand Street that have remained undeveloped for over 40 years. Various interest groups have disagreed on what should be built on this land and have hindered progress. S.H.A.R.E. (Sustainable Housing And Retail Expansion) is a moderate, community-based organization that is determined to bring progress to the Lower East Side while maintaining the character of the neighborhood by supporting residential and commercial diversity on the SPURA sites. S.H.A.R.E. believes the following: -S.H.A.R.E. is for open-minded and future-oriented LES residents determined to see the SPURA sites developed -S.H.A.R.E. brings an independent voice to decades of conflict & political alliances that have paralyzed progress -S.H.A.R.E. believes that compromise on how the SPURA sites are developed is the only way to move forward -S.H.A.R.E. advocates mixed-use of the SPURA sites in the form of residential and commercial diversity in order to benefit the entire community -S.H.A.R.E. wants to make the SPURA sites a vibrant neighborhood for LES residents and a destination for all New Yorkers and visitors well into the future
