SHAME ON FPL
This petition seeks to revise FPL's Reinstatement policy after customers electricity have been turn off because of nonpayment. Presently, if an FPL customer pays to have his/hers power turned back on after having been shut off because of non payment, FPL reserves the right to take up to 24 hours to turn the power back on. My power was turned off because of an online payment error. I corrected the error, paid my bill and asked FPL to turn my electricity back on. In spite of repeated phone calls to reinstate my power and in spite of my telling any supervisor I could get on the phone that my five-year-old son needed the power back on so that he could have his prescribed treatment three times a day, each time FPL turned their cheeks saying, "There is nothing we can do. We do not have means of communicating with the technicians out on the field." FPL could not have been more insensitive. FPL's 24 hour turn-your-power-on policy is abusive and unacceptable. We do not have the option of buying electricity from anyone else. In the end, it took FPL almost 30 hours to turn my power back on.
