With all due respect, Shaista must publicly report where she stands on Fiji's current affairs and where her motives lie pre and post coup 2006 (against what I've already discerned).

I was sitting in her office with Mohhamed Aziz when she started giving him tips on how to prosecuted the case against the CRW soldiers. I was shocked beyond belief as the Commission was at the same time acting as defense lawyers for one or two of those charged at the Military Court Marshall. Kick her out please.

Dr Shaista Shameem's appoinment as Director Migrant Services should be rescinded and appoinment terminated. She was and is a supporter of Bainimarama's regime .She contradicted herself while in Fiji as a Director Fiji Human Rights Commission in that she did not do the best as expected of her in upholding the expected position she was during the Bainimarama;s 2006 coup.

Poor choice VC Maharey - 'she's conniving and evil'. I believe she was in the know about the army coup in 2006 and time will tell...do not have anything to do with her...she's an embarrassment to society and Massey University's good name is at great risk!...you've been warned VC!

She FAILED..I repeat FAILED to investigate human rights abuses in Fiji. This poor soul who was more worried to save her sorry ass than the cries of grassroot Fijians who suffered at the hands of this Illegal regime. Massey University must rescind her position..a disgrace!

NZ is a law abiding country therefore coup supporters must not be considered for any position here. She should be dismissed immediately.

A lot of what I read is emotion laden attack on Dr Shaista Shameem. Judging by the names most seems to be I’taukei respondents. I wonder what motivates these respondents – hate, racism (let’s get the Indians they are an easy target) or democratic ideals which was not in much display during 1987 and 2000 coups. Where were you then? Usaia Waqatairewa turns against Dr Shameem (presumably his previous colleague) and did not have the guts to challenge her when the supposed incident took place (if it ever did take place). Epeli Ole Ravuci criticizes her of not doing her best. Suliasi Ditoko says he also knows she was in the know about the coup –where is the evidence? Frank Robanakadavu should consider how many people who perpetrated the 1987, 2000 coups should be in the same boat? All responding with subjective judgment (like the rest of the petitioners so far) without much weight and thought. For the other criticisms I offer the following: In response to Reason 1 of the Petition: I would like you to look at the following article and consider its implications in political setting during 2006 in Fiji Was the Defence of Prerogative Power Justified in the Dismissal of the Fijian Prime Minister in Qaras Ev Bainimarama in 2009? By Chandra Datt http://www.researchgate.net/publication/228187138_Was_the_Defence_of_Prerogative_Power_Justified_in_the_Dismissal_of_the_Fijian_Prime_Minister_in_Qaras_Ev_Bainimarama_in_2009. And ask yourself did she continue her employment after the 1997 Fiji Constitution was abrogated – the answer is no. In response to Reason 2 of the Petition: Ask yourself: Was QoliQoli Bill against the Deed of Cession? The answer is yes and thus the intervention by Dr Shameem. In response to Reason 3 of the Petition: In all organisations there are processes to be followed. The question is did Dr Shameem alert/ write to the Attorney General to the situation regarding Sakiusa Rabaka and Nimilote Verebasaga and others? And what was the A

"Evil triumph when good men and women do nothing.' And evil is pernicious when it comes in a seemingly good or concern form. Massey university does not deserve such a hypocritical person to be in a strategic leadership position as it will severely tarnish their image, credibility and reputation.

Massey University should do the right thing and terminate Dr Shameem's appointment. She is definitely not the right person for the job given her very poor track record as DHRC.

In her position as Director of the Fiji Human Rights Commission, Dr Shaista Shameem was unfairly partial in her investigation against human rights abuse in Fiji immediately after the December 2006 military coup. She sympathized with the reasons of that coup, and this effectively clouded her professional judgement in that critical position. Dr Shameem did not dishcharge her duties in the proper manner. Therefore, Massey University must conduct a thorough investigation into her claims or otherwise during her interview. Rescing her appointment/contract immediately!

Shaista openly showed no concern for human rights abuses in 2006. When we looked to her office FHRC for direction and support, she was a let down. A very bad one. Massey University, when you allow people like her to get a job after realising her days in our country is now numbered especially opportunities, you are supporting the shredding of our human rights and the killing of freedom and justice.

She was the Director of Human Rights Commission in FIji and we all know that she justified the coup which justifies the killing of my friends through military torture and collegues who were told to "F.Off " from their work place...without any reason at all...we saw Mr Bhallu Khan taken to CWMH after being tortured, Ms Digitaki being hounded by the military and families of the New Zealand & Australian embassy being sent home ..and she said nothing ...????...
