Shadow Lake Forest Basketball Goal Approval
Shadow Lake Forest is a family friendly neighborhood and the use of basketball goals are a great way for the youth to get exercise and make new friends within the neighborhood.
The bylaws require that basketball goals should be taken down and placed out of sight when not in use, and that no permanent goals are permitted. This limits the amount of time our children get to play basketball, plus there is a health and safety concern moving the the goal after each use. Permanent goals tend to provide better curb appeal within the neighborhood and less safety hazard.
In order to change a bylaw we need to receive roughly 30% of our residents vote. I am not requesting that the entire basketball goal bylaw to be removed just simply modified to the following:
Basketball goals which are permanently or partially mounted must be install per manufactures specifications and must be mounted on the homeowners property away from the road. Permanent and portable goals are permitted with the following standards:
A) They remain on the home owners property and safely secured with a full water tank and or sandbags or mounted to a secure structure.
B) Goals can remain outside on the homeowners property as long as they are in good working order and properly maintained so that property values are not in jeopardy because of basketball goals.
