Dear Esperance Shire president Malcom Heasman.
We, The community and residents of Esperance formally request the Shire to address the issue of our parks having little or no shade over the play equipment. We would like to see a shade structure or shade sails put over the play equipment to help protect our children from the exposure of UV rays. We, the undersigned, believe the Shire should make this a priority and have some form of shading in place by the end of December 2014.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you care about keeping our children safe in our parks. This momentum belongs entirely to the community members who took the time to speak up for our kids.

Shade sails should be mandatory in Australia all daycares need to follow the sun smart system and most have them I dont think parks shouls be any different the UV ratings are high and our kids need that extra sun protection
Esperance parks need shades badly! The slides and sand gets hot, not to mention kids needing protection from the sun!! I couldn't believe Ravy has shade over their park and Esperance can't even get 1!
Absolute priority! If governments are willing to spend the money on tv commercials to say we need to slip slop slap then certainly shade over children's play areas should be worth the money!
would love shade over the playgrounds as it gives us more opportuntiy to take our kids outdoors for more playtime and it also prevents the play equipment becoming to hot to play on. If we want to raise our kids to more active outdoors than lets get this going.
This is something we desperately need planting new trees is not an immediate answer our kiddies need shade now
Need to see some shade over the plat equipment as to protect our little ones
Our kids need protection whilst playing outdoors... I can see a lot of empty, unused playgrounds in the near future if something is not done soon.

Shade sails would benifit Esperance they say it's important for kids to be outdoor and playing but this isn't the case even with sunscreen parents don't want there children in the sun all day while playing, so many small towns have shade sails in all if there parks but Esperance "the super town" has none!!
