Smaller case loads for SPED teacher. Not a safe ratio in the classroom. SPED is a vulnerable population being severely affected.

Students and teachers deserve better from our city. Teachers work incredibly hard and can’t get the support they need. Our students are the future of the city.

All I know is that our teachers and SFUSD support staff are some of the most important people in our children's lives. We need to support them completely so that they can do their jobs and make a good future for our children and our society as a whole - as the children ARE our future.

Dear Dr. Wayne, I am a parent with a child in Kindergarten at Glen Park School in SFUSD. I write to encourage the district to find more common ground with UESF. Teachers and support staff need a fair contract that honors their expertise, the realities of living in the Bay Area, and the time it takes to do their job well. We have great teachers and hope SFUSD can take the necessary steps to keep great teachers in San Francisco. Sincerely, Andrea Nelson

I support livable wages for all district employees. Certainly your teachers! In addition, teenaged babysitters are paid more than some of your hourly employees.

I appreciate our teachers and want them to be treated fairly. They need a wage that can afford family and life in San Francisco. There is value to having teachers live where they teach so please motivate them to stay by paying them a living wage.

SFUSD teachers need to pay more. Why are we still talking about the messed up payroll system? How is it possible that it has not been fixed? SFUSD needs to be reorganized if there is so much overhead? I want to go on and on, but I won’t.

San Francisco USD talks the talk about equity, care for communities, and respect for its frontline workers. But when it comes to walking the walk, the district always has some reason why it can't live up to its values. It's time to bring our actions in accordance with our beliefs. That starts with full funding for school sites - not one more central office administrator before sites are fully funded and staffed. That starts by giving SEIU and UESF the raises they need to do the work.

It's appalling that our city doesn't have the best public education opportunities for every student. We need to attract and retain the best educators and that starts with providing them with compensation to thrive in our community. This should be a priority for every resident in SF, not just those with children. The future of this city and our values depend on today's young minds and those that educate, mentor, and inspire them.

Our teachers do incredible work that is priceless. They dedicate their time, energy and commit to educating our children. SF is an incredibly expensive place to live and our teachers deserve to be paid fairly to live where they work.
