End the Sub Crisis in San Francisco Public Schools

As a retired teacher, I know how vital it is (for student continuity of learning) to provide subs for teachers and staff.

SFUSD teachers and those who support them are working really hard to provide meaningful education for their students every day, and to continue to be learners themselves for the benefit of students. The promise of much of this work is undermined by the district's lack of substitute support, as teachers and other staff have to abandon their plans to do the work of that should be done by substitute teachers. Student learning suffers when teachers and administrators cannot do their jobs. This is a serious crisis and SFUSD needs to step up and fulfill its obligation to students by solving it.

This is disgusting and needs to be resolved. For such a modern and wealthy city, San Francisco should not have these problems. Our public school system should be the best example the US has to offer.

I am a parent volunteer at SF Community Alternative School. This is a disgraceful situation for one of the wealthiest cities in the country to be in. What has happened to San Francisco values?

I am a very concerned parent of children in SFUSD who have been impacted by this issue. This needs to be addressed properly by the district as it effects our whole city as these kids grow up and participate in the community please help our teachers!

This is deplorable, given that our students need every single instructional minute to get ahead. Additionally, a chaotic school day and classroom environment makes children feel unsafe and unhappy--surely that's antithetical to SFUSD's goals for their learners.

We are really concerned about the substitute crisis. We would like all of the students to have more class time even on days where their teachers cannot attend.
