This is a travesty. This man is a hero. He should have been promoted for his actions, not punished.

You do not use the excuse of Human rights to send Americans to war, and then bust them for doing exactly that!

SFC Hartland must be reinstated and promoted. The "pc" mentality and policies is destroying the integrity of our Military.

So just what the heck are we doing in this country if its not to bring an understanding of what freedom and self worth is all about. Can this government learn this ??? Rape is NEVER to be allowed no matter where we are. So we stand by as girls are denied education and then shot if they continue to seek it out. We,ve made a hero out of such as one as this!!! MALALA is her name. Makes me sick to think of all the years we have been there and yet nothing really changes. This solider did what was right and Honorable.

Have known Chuck since we went through basic in 2004 and the Q course. Excellent Soldier and Green Beret. Sad but not surprising to see this from Army Leadership.

I can't help but wonder if those who are bent of discharging this soldier could live with themselves and turn a blind eye after witnessing the abuse of a child by an adult on a military base. Allow this soldier to continue his highly rewarding career and get the Hell out of Afganistan. .

Charles Martland must be allowed to stay in the Army. His actions were in keeping with American customs and traditions.

Support this soldier. He has moral integrity and stood for something...more than his superior officers did that is for sure...

We support and appreciate our men and women in uniform! It is appalling what those who have become the "higher ups" - what the new directives have been doing to the moral and morale of our armed forces. Those who are making these decisions will get theirs even if it is eventually. God Bless Our Troops!!

It's a no brainer....give him back his job and a "sorry for the mistake" and "thank you for stopping a monster".....

OUTRAGED by the potential discharge of this American HERO, for his courage and morality to protect the innocent, in the face of vile impunity. When an Afghan Commander admitted to restraining & repeatedly raping a 12-year-old boy for 10-14 days and having his mother beaten for reporting it, then laughed & dismissed the incident. Martland body-slammed the Hell-bound Afghan out of camp & gave him a heave-ho out the front gate. For the INNOCENTS and the PROTECTORS, SUPPORT THIS HERO!
