SFC Charles Martland is the most Honorable soldier on the planet. He has showed restraint in his actions as a protector of freedom and injustice. I would be proud to serve with him anytime. Congressman Hunter, please allow this freedom fighter and gentleman to continue his career. Thank you.

This is outrageous! SFC Martland should be given a medal but instead he's being punished for doing what's right.

An excellent special trained US Army officer who acted to protect US interests ought not to be subjected to such ridiculous procedures...

Dear SFC Martland,
During my first overseas tour, Guam in ’48-’49, I was seventeen. A second lieutenant I didn’t know complained to my First Sergeant that I tried to shoot him.
First Sergeant Chamberlain, an armor-clad beer keg of a raw-knuckled old Soldier shot that charge down. It seems that the Lt had gone “Rock Happy.” No one fired at him. I didn’t know that Chamberlain knew my name.
At the Nuremburg Trials the world was impressed by the raw difference determined between lawful and unlawful orders. RoE kept in Korea changed for the worse in Vietnam. Right and wrong have not changed. I have violated the RoE in both wars when I concluded that the tactical situation required it. I would not change what I did.
Initially trained by “Doughboys,” WWI Infantrymen, and later, by combat infantrymen returned from the WWII European Theater of Operations by those who could not imagine the PC world to which today’s Soldier is subject. I experienced the leading edge of PC as a senior NCO when to satisfy marksmanship requirements in 1951 the “A” target bulls-eye was increased in size from 10” to 12.”
While I can’t change your situation I can pray and I can push – at least with my pen. At nearly 85 my legs aren’t the pillars they were, but count on both for all they can still do.

This story is infuriating. This man is a hero. Only when individuals with his degree of morality are recognized and praised for their actions shall we truly be considered a great nation.

Its utterly disgusting that we would let a deserter walk, and yet kick out a man who served his country for 11 years, and fought for what is right, even though it was his job.
