This soldier did his military and moral duty, we should not punish him for this we should decorate him . I wonder if the top brass had their children being abused. if they would want him to act differently. Had he not acted what dose that say about this country.

Wake up America! You stand for something or you fall for anything. Any decent human would have done the same thing in this situation.

i am an Army wife and the mother of 2 former soldiers. It is ludicrous that this hero be treated the way he has been by the United States Army. Please let Common Sense prevail . Our Commander In Chief pardons real criminals. This is an easy fix!

I am a Canadian and Canada is a NORAD and NATO member. This man is a hero and should be reinstated back into the military. This incident proves that, we in the West, have lost our Christian values which used to keep us strong. Our leadership, throughout, is morally bankrupt.

I am a mother of 3 service members and am outraged this soldier would be punished in any way let alone discharged for upholding American laws on American bases.

The Army is to serve and protect - that is what this honorable soldier has done throughout his military career, and what he was doing when he confronted the monster who terrorized a child and his mother. This brave soldier actually displayed incredible restraint, as the horrible Afghan rapist is still around to talk about it.

Our teachers, are by law, and by Law, required not to ignore signs of child abuse. This is to me the moral equivalent of charging and punishing those who, not only refused to participate in atrocities, but prevented further atrocities against civilians in combat zones! Bless you Sgt Martland! Shame on those against him!

I think it's clear that this man should be retained by the army. He did the sort of thing that I think most right thinking people would hope they would do if they were to find themselves in a similar situation. The situation and SFC Martland's record speaks for itself.

There are no words that encapsulate the insanity of our military and our government. We preach morals louder than any other country, human rights, etc......then when one of our Troops acts in accordance with those core beliefs and the oath he took to defend and protect, our government annihilates him. Looks like Treason on the part of our military and our government.....looks like a great way for the military to discourage other Troops from behaving in accordance with their core beliefs and the oaths they took also. It appears to be the method they choose to use break down morale. It's time for a serious change in our military and government.

This man's moral and Patriotic attitude is what our military needs a lot more of. Releasing him is a disgraceful event of the highest level which this government can not afford. The U.S. government is in a sorry state now. We the people will not except this miscarriage of justice.

This fine soldier should not be terminated from the Army for doing what was right. Thank you for considering this request.

At what point is discharging this man acceptable behavior. What could the Army possibly be thinking that Charles's actions are worthy of a discharge. I pray that Charles has peace in the actions that he took.
