Thank you Sgt Martland for doing what's right. The way the army leadership reacted is a travesty.

Let this fine soldier remain in service with honor and give him the respect that he deserves. There are much better and more efficient ways to cut cost if that was the primary intent. Joe

beyond disturbing that a soldier is punished for protecting a basic human right of safety for a child. I'm ashamed

SFC Charles Martland should be commended instead of facing discharge.

This Patriot acted in accordance with Army Values. The fact that the soldier has to defend himself Is a national disgrace.

As a parent and proud American I am uplifted by the actions of this courageous man. However the fact that he is being punished for defending and advancing basic American rights sickens me. I am so saddened that the out of control liberal movement is more concerned about punishing the hero. He is a man that I now and forever more will use as an example of a true hero and patriot.

I am disgusted by the political Generals who let this kind of tyranny fester inside the military. We need LTC Alan West to help set things straight. This SF Soldier deserves a medal, and should have gotten a promotion. It is a crying shame that the child rapist is still alive.

This makes me sick! I am outraged at the treatment of this soldier. Harming a child is never ok, in any circumstances. This man deserves an award, not to be kicked out and charged with a crime. What the hell is wrong with these people?

What does the term 'Duty, Honor, Country' mean in todays Army? Is it just Public Relations and recruitment sales puff. Can it be crassly parsed away to mean anything or nothing at all? Somewhere in that creed I take it to mean that it is a soldier's duty to protect the weak and defenseless under his purview. Further, to purge his ranks of the vile and the vulgar. In the situation in question we are so far to date seeing the inverse of 'Duty, Honor, Country' being practiced. By its actions the Army is quite explicitly saying that defenseless women and child should be left to fend for themselves and that we should take and protect cowardly rapists as our allies. This inverse code may be seen as satisfactory from the viewpoint of our diplomats, politicians, and lawyers. If the Army allows this discharge to stand it too will have adopted this inverse code. It will then have certainly thus imploded itself through its hypocrisy. SFC Charles Martland embodies the phrase 'Duty, Honor, Country'. He is our Hero. Right now he is a weak position. We must stand up and protect him as he has done so many times for us. Or we will cease to be the great nation that we are. Duty, Honor, Country; creed not slogan.
