I think that it is ridiculous that out troops are risking their lives over there fighting for what is right, yet we are supposed to allow children to get raped!

SFC Martland did the right thing. The Army should let him back in and give him a new ranking of E-8. Hero in my eyes!

It is unconscionable that in the 21st-century that our government still continues to back really bad guys and turns a blind eye to their atrocities. This is not a cultural difference, this is child rape and no matter the culture, race, or country it is very wrong. Why this is allowed is beyond me. We don't need the support of the local government officials, we need the support of the local people. When we back really bad guys what we end up doing is creating resentment in the local populations, which is one of the main reasons we are disliked in the Middle East. If we show that actually stand for something, then maybe over time these perceptions might change. I can't imagine that being forced to turn a blind eye to these crimes is good for the morale of our serviceman either. These unconscionable policies need to stop now!

Child rape is a war crime. The Pentagon is encouraging this war crime by discouraging our forces from stepping in to protect the children.

Come on. Who's really in charge here. I'm concerned when the powers to be can't see he did what any decent person would do. We should be proud of he stood up for that child and mother. I think you would have to be there to truly appreciate the situation.
