The mission of Special Forces is to build trust between local officials and indigenous populations. The actions of the ANP official were eroding those inroads that our SF troops fought and died to make. The actions of SFC Maryland were in keeping with his mission. His actions, while unconventional, were effective and very meaningful for the local population.
