He deserves a medal for having the decency to do something about this. Our military is basically backing the freak child molesters and not our own military. He is a hero in my book.

It makes me sick to even think of what that boy and his mother endured and we are punishing our serviceman for protecting and defending the oppressed. Isn't that the duty of a green beret?

Show some moral courage! Cravenness has no place in our Army.

Retain SFC Martland. As a retired military officer I want more like him in the service!

Disgraceful that the USA should choose to fire a solider who was upholding our USA values overseas. It appears he is to be separated for a non-NJP offense. If the Army thought it was an offense, they should have tried him at that time. Sad times for the United States Military. I have requested Senators Cantwell and Murray, along with Representative Kilmer to intervene.

I'm am outraged, and ashamed of our US Army how they are treating a brave honorable Green Beret. I believe he used incredible restraint by only punching the police child rapist in the face! The US Army shoud stand behind him, and salute him! I am so ashamed of how political correct our armed forces has become. A concernd American Aimee Egan

Should SFC Charles Martland had a reasonable suspicion that the Afghan man continually sexually assaulted someone, the U.S. Army should consider the circumstances surrounding Mr. Martland's actions, including the mitigating circumstances of witnessing such abuse. Outside of any mitigating circumstances for legal actions against SFC Martland, ethically, we support his actions in two ways. First, if he incapacitated the Afghan man from committing further assaults on this boy, then SFC Martland prevented harm much worse than the beating. Second, retributively, SFC Martland gave the Afghan man what he deserved: punishment for sexually assaulting another -- a punishment the Afghan village did not wage. SFC Martland thereby fulfilled his duty to protect the community he served.

I don't support Rape, Child Molestation, Honor Killings, or any abuse of authority by Police, Politicians or anyone who claims to be in a position of authority. These two soldiers should not have/be screwed because they stood up to Bullies. When are we going to stop supporting this type of behavior by our so called Allies?

This soldier should be treated with respect protecting weaker humans. That's what he was trained to do protect others...

I am Canadian. Once again the US Army shows its inhumane hypocritical face to the world. Even when dealing with its own..... Sick is not a strong enough word...

How utterly incredible! If this is what the army stands for now then I do not support them at all. The only problem is I know several guys who are now serving and will continue to support them but not the bigwigs if they will not support their own troops!

It is disgusting that our army will accept the word of a pedophile over that of a decorated officer with an impeccable record. Don't let this atrocity prevail. Let SFC Martland continue to serve the country he has fought for and loves.
