I am so angered and appalled with our government once again. How dare our government ask our soldiers to look the other way while little boys are raped on a nightly basis. Our soldiers should not be put in a situation where they are subjected to listening to the screams of little boys being raped at the hands of the Afghanistan armed forces on our military bases. What the HELL is wrong with you people!?!?!? Do you not have a heart? Do you not have children in your life that you love? How can this be o.k. to you? How can you ask our soldiers to look the other way, yet hear the screams of agony and pain of little boys on a nightly bases? Have you NO morals? What these men did should be considered honorable and noble....you on the other hand are a disgrace. I pit you. These men should be permitted to continue their careers in our military....these are the type of men we need fighting for our country. They have honor and integrity. You DON'T!!!

The army needs more soldiers like this. Not allowing SFC Martland to continue to serve our country for protecting children would be a disgrace. I saddened that our government would expect or soldiers to ignore such wrong doings and on top of that punish them for not standing by why these horrific things happen.

We are totally and completely proud that SFC Martland physically reprimanded the Afgan so-called leader who laughed about chaining and raping a young boy. We are so PROUD of SFC Martland!!!

Are our service men and women not sent abroad to defend those who cannot defend themselves? He should be given a medal for stepping in and putting a stop to the rape of a young boy and the beating of his mother; instead he is being involuntarily discharged. How can the military administration expect absolute trust and devotion from their service men and women when it is clear that they do not have their best interest at heart. This gentleman served for 11 years and has earned honors and decorations and yet is being discharged for saving the lives of two people who could not protect themselves. Absolutely unacceptable!

Its about time we started standing up for All in the Armed Forces. Morality is what is being lost. If this were to happen on U.S. soil would the reaction and discharge be the same...NO NOT AT ALL!!! Why is Our Military punishing a Soldier for this....it is just plain hypocrisy!!!

I demand that U.S. Army Green Beret SFC Charles Martland NOT be “involuntarily separated” from the U.S. Army on November 1, 2015. I demand his retention and his personnel records expunged of any negative report related to his actions in defending a little Afghan boy and his mother. I also demand that SFC Martland be immediately promoted to Master Sergeant and allowed to continue his impeccable service as an elite Army warrior.

it now appears that the board members that voted to kick him out are tired of screwing each other and now want to screw SFC Martland. I believe that these board members should resign from these positions as they do not now stand for the same principles that our country believes in. I served for 22 years and would have cut the rapist testicles off because that is what Americans do, protect the innocent and children. The Army is now run by a group of followers and no leaders to take a stand against injustice. I will make sure that I get the names of the membsrs so I can put out of media that they support raping children and destroying a soldiers career along with his family.

Morals should never be compromised in our military and particularly in this case of human compassion. This officer acted in full compliance on behalf of human decency as a result of an atrocious, fowl and nauseating act. How dare our Secretary of Defense and/or Army not stand with their own in this case.
No wonder we're the laughing stock of the world when our own government ties the hands of those who supposedly are trained to keep their fellow man safe and supposedly spread "freedom" in such Godforsaken places on this earth.
What in the hell is our country coming to?! This is a disgrace and the powers at be along with all their pencil pushing attorneys that have influenced the dismissal of this decorated officer should be relieved of their duties and never allowed to serve in any capacity on behalf of our government henceforth.
Enough is enough and it is time for the current DC regime to stand down. 2016 won't come soon enough.

The NYT article on US military nonintervention policy in child rape cases really tipped the scales for me. How can we purport to be doing any good whatsoever in Afghanistan while allowing such abuse to continually happen WITHIN EARSHOT??? If it were a matter of respecting different cultural norms, then why would the victims' families be crying for help?

SFC Charles Martland you are a hero, honoring life and protecting the young, defenseless children of another nation. Your conduct appropriate and moral, yet, your military higher-ups appear to have bent their allegiance to what our nation stands for. I pray...your military position is restated and without any burden to your status and livelihood.
