The Sexual Health Clinic, located on Penglais Campus, operated by Hywel Dda, closed in July 2012. AberSU, in conjunction with Mark Williams, MP, have been in constant correspondence with Hywel Dda as to their plans for the clinic and the reasons for the closure.
It was originally understood that the closure was due to a lack of staff, but has now been announced that sexual health services in the area are under review, and that there are no future plans at present to reinstate the clinic, as they do not feel there is an adequate demand for it.
AberSU has expressed disappointment at the lack of consultation with the student body over this decision, and feel it is important to keep the service open, as it provided an easily accessible place for students to acquire sexual health information and basic testing.
This petition seeks to demand the reinstatement of this sexual health provision at Aberystwyth.
im still talking to the university and the health board but they keep insisting there isnt enough demand here which feels completely wrong. reading through the comments here just proves how many people actually need this service on campus. thank you for sticking with this because we clearly arent going anywhere.

im honestly blown away by the momentum building behind this. seeing everyone come together like this makes me think we might actually force them to listen.

Ridiculous to think there is no demand. There is a huge student population here and we need this access on campus.

Disgraceful decision. Students need help and support and this makes it way harder for people to get checked out.
