In 2013, I was sexually abused by a classmate of mine, another 13 year old boy. In the New Jersey public school system, sexual abuse and harassment is not something discussed in years 1-5, understandably, as well as not in 6-8. From grades 6-8, the subject is hardly skimmed upon. Teenagers need to be made aware of the problems in their community, and that includes sexual abuse. Sexual harassment education needs to be a priority to prevent rape and sexual abuse, which as my rapist called it, was "accidental" because "he didn't know any better." Kids have to know better.
