As an alum and donor, I encourage the University to act to revoke this honor. From all reports, Charlie Rose has proven to violate our code of honor, and he was actively lying when he received the honorary degree. I understand we need a process for this act, and I expect the University to act swiftly.

As an alum from the Class of 1980 and as the mother of two from the Class of 2015, I wish to see this degree stripped from Mr. Rose.

Yes - please. Difficult enough to justify the southern patriarchy without going into an “it’s complicated” or “it helped me learn to deal with the world of finance” type of explanation to my friends of any diverse background.

This man's sexual misconduct is clearly unethical and should be grounds for his immediate removal from any status of honor or recognition related to Sewanee.

Let's hope that the culture of Sewanee changes and that more is done to stop sexual harassment and assault.

Class of '06. Sewanee needs to join the rest of the country in cleaning house and taking serious responsibility for fighting sexual harassment and assault. This is a small but meaningful gesture.

Rose is a great interviewer, without doubt. But there are other great interviewers who do not feel the need to strip in front of their female colleagues. Surely we would not have given him this degree had we known that beforehand; but we know it now, and must strip him of the degree.

I have long enjoyed Charlie Rose' interviews with interesting people. This is a sad day. I must vote my conscience.

I am so disappointed that my alma mater is the ONLY school not to have revoked Charlie Rose's honorary degree.

As a parent of a female college student soon to be looking for jobs and representing Sewanee it is important to know her degree if from a school that stands up to misogyny and sexual harassment. Sewanee should send the message that this behavior will not be tolerated by its students, faculty or those with honorary degrees.

Yes. And while you're at it, when is graduate Bishop Gene Robinson getting his well-deserved, and traditional, honorary degree?
