I am extremely surprised that Sewanee has not to action to revoke Rose’s honors degree yet. What in the world could be the hold up???

If the recipient of the honorary degree has been found not to be upholding of our core values, he does not deserve the degree. This is not quite the same as earning the credits and graduating; this has public behavioral obligations, and is about honor.

Sexual misconduct should not be tolerated and should not be rewarded in any shape or form. Revoking this honorary degree is the least that a well-known institution like Sewanee can do to express solidarity with victims and take a stand against this type type of violence.

The only time I've been harangued and insulted on the phone by a man was the occasion this despicable man did so to me a decade ago, when I was a young female assistant at a prestigious publishing house. I've been sick at the sight and sound of him ever since, and was sickened to read his remarks given at my alma mater last year. After 15 years of giving to Sewanee's annual fund, I haven't been able to bring myself to do so this year. Please rescind this degree.

For all that have come forward (and those who cannot/choose not to come forward), revoke his honorary degree. We should not honor those that commit such offenses. Be on the right side of history, Sewanee. YSR.

Sewanee has a long record of speaking about preventing and punishing sexual misconduct...and then doing nothing about it. The right choice here is obvious.
