Whilst the homeless do indeed deserve the right to be homed and indeed deserve basic services, simply settling on land which has not been determined for such settlement is completely unacceptable and was never contemplated in the Constitution. Informal settlers attempting to settle in an area with no basic services intact will indeed impact on other dwellings in the area from sewage to electricity and even more. Remembering the spirit of the constitution is peace, no peace can come from any ratepayer
who is now forced to live in abborant conditions whilst still attempting to live a law abiding existence despite there being lawlessness right at their very doorstep.

we work hard to pay for water ,electricity,rates .the squarterd must learn to work and pay for accommodation,water,electricity,rates.dont expect everything free.with informal settlements there is hygiene issues,people who owns property and have huge bonds the value of the property drop.like all of us ,earn a living .dont pitch up and take what doesnt belong to you. That is sheer robery

People taking over land in Westville without paying for it as other landowners have causes the surrounding land to lose its value. It also leads to crimanilism. The standard of life will drop, Land grabbers will never be able to afford the upkeep of the land and it will eventually become an eye sore and bring down the value of the surrounding properties.
